Description
Thermaltake MS-1 M.2 2280 SSD Cooler
The Thermaltake MS-1 M.2 2280 SSD Cooler is a compact and efficient cooling solution designed to help maintain stable temperatures for M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs. Its heatsink design improves heat dissipation during demanding tasks such as gaming, large file transfers, and intensive workloads, helping reduce thermal throttling and maintain consistent SSD performance. Easy to install and space-efficient, the MS-1 is a practical upgrade for users looking to improve the cooling and reliability of their M.2 SSD.
Purpose Built Cooling for the Fastest SSDs
The MS-1 M.2 2280 SSD Cooler is designed specifically to address a growing problem in modern PC builds: Gen 5 NVMe SSDs running fast enough to generate serious heat, often to the point of thermal throttling during sustained read and write operations. Rather than relying on a simple passive heatsink, Thermaltake built the MS-1 as an actively cooled solution aimed squarely at keeping high speed drives operating at their rated performance.
Sound Technology and Active Cooling Design
At the core of the MS-1 is a compact 8000 RPM micro blower fan, an unusually high spin rate made possible by the fan’s tiny 20 x 20 x 8.6mm size. Despite operating at such high speed, the fan is engineered to stay quiet, producing only 16 dB-A of noise while still generating 0.44 CFM of airflow and 1.6 mm-H2O of static pressure directed straight through the heatsink fins. This combination of a small footprint and high RPM allows the cooler to push meaningful airflow across the SSD surface without adding noticeable case noise, which matters for a component installed directly on the motherboard, often close to other case fans and the GPU.
Direct Contact Heat Transfer
Heat is pulled away from the SSD through a 6mm copper heat pipe that makes direct contact with the drive’s surface. Copper is used specifically for its strong thermal conductivity, allowing heat generated during intensive read and write cycles to move away from the SSD chip quickly rather than building up locally. From there, heat is spread across a high quality aluminum heatsink featuring an eight fin design, chosen to maximize surface area for airflow to carry heat away efficiently.
A Small Footprint That Doesn’t Get in the Way
One of the more practical aspects of the MS-1 is its size. At just 74 x 23 x 17.9mm, it’s built to sit over an M.2 2280 SSD without interfering with nearby components like CPU coolers or graphics cards, which can be a real concern in compact builds where M.2 slots often sit close to the GPU. This compact form factor means builders don’t need to sacrifice clearance or flexibility elsewhere in the case just to keep their SSD properly cooled.
